CD Packaging

CD Packaging

When a college friend approached me to create the packaging for his CDs of faith music, of course I said yes. There’ve been three such projects so far, of which this is the third. The raw, source scan (as seen in the second of the two images on this page) was a photo he’d snapped himself – a very promising subject…but the photo itself was washed out, the dimensions weren’t right for a full-bleed CD cover, and the scanner picked up quite a bit of dust on the photo’s surface no matter how careful we were. So, I cloned out the dust specks, deepened the shadows for contrast, enhanced the colors, cloned out the cables, and extended the sky. Finally, I added the white bird originally created for the second CD we worked on together and subsequently adopted as a unifying element for future materials.
